:D Monday night Elk Grove school was given a truely amazing group class (Jr Seminar). He talked on proper state of mind, being yourself, as well as some reaction training. When he arrived he went around to each group working on a two man attack, and within seconds quickly identified what each person was doing wrong and fixed their problems right then and there. During reaction time he gave us valuable skills on how to assess the fight with 3-4 attackers, how to remain calm, not to focus on one individual, and learning on when to escape and how to set up your attackers, and once you first get comfortable with the escape, then the rest will fall into place. The school was at full capacity, in addition to Jung Moon we had 10 Shifu's and at least 55 students of various ranks, it was an awsome time had by all, and a time no one will forget. This was truely a great way to start the week leading up to camp.
You nailed it Mr. Rovito, Jung Moon was on fire that night. I find myself blown away each and every time he steps on the mat to teach but that night in particular was unique. He made corrections to over 50 students, had each and every single one of them moving better than i've ever seen and he did all of it without correcting a single block, punch, kick, strike etc. he simply got them to release their fears of making a mistake. It was something that alot of us won't be able to explain in words.
I knew Jung Moon was good, above Great! But he took my respect for him in his teachings to another level. As a teacher and head instructor of Elk Grove, I learned so many valuable tools in running a group, individuals as well as how to spot mistakes that are made my thought and not physical.
I can't thank him enough for visiting our school and adding that much more energy to it.
Me and the other black belts stood in my office later that night and contributed 4 pages worth of notes that we brainstormed together on what we got from the lesson that night. It was remarkable.
Thank you again Jung Moon for returning to the mat! I can't wait for the next lesson!
HE IS BACK!!!
